About Cupio 2012 Brunello Di Montalcino, Pinino
Here's an incredible find! To the north of Montalcino, embedded like a natural amphitheatre, into the beautiful hillside of Montosoli, sits the Pinino wine estate. The estate was founded in 1874, nearly 100 years later, in 1950, Pinino was inscribed to the Brunello winemakers register.
Vinous scored this 92+ points saying "Good full red. Spicy red berry and floral notes on the enticing nose. Then fresh and juicy, with vibrant, refined red cherry and sweetly spicy berry flavors. Finishes long and mineral, with repeating floral notes. Great Brunello but in a lighter perfumed style so it will likely appeal less to those who prefer wines of power rather than delicacy."
With added bottle age this silky Brunello is drinking beautifully and now it's at a special discounted price. Don't miss it!
Mr Max Hernandez and Ms. Andrea Gamon have owned the estate since 2004, and have expanded Pinino with the purchase of new vineyards in Canchi and with a project for the construction of a modern wine cellar.
The vineyards are between 15-20 years old and are located in two different areas. 40 acres for wine production of Sangiovese are locate on the Pinino estate, with a southern orientation and Galestro earth. The remaining 30 acres are located on the Canchi estate with a south-eastern orientation, with soils consisting of a mix of clay and lime-rich ground.
Grapes are all harvested by hand, using the traditional small boxes that have become a long-standing tradition in Montalcino. Careful selection of the grapes is carried out systematically to reduce yields and maximize quality.
